Electronic Brake Performance Monitoring System (EBPMS) - check brakes continuously
Intelligent monitoring of braking performance BPMS monitors the braking processes during the journey. Combined with other data from the telematics system, the braking performance is constantly monitored. A comparison with the requirements and a trend analysis allow an assessment of the braking ability of an individual trailer under real conditions (travelling and loaded, including trend). On-demand brake maintenance during the year.
If the results are poor, the system informs the fleet manager. The fleet manager can dispatch the vehicle in question to the workshop in order to identify and rectify the cause of inadequate brake performance. For this purpose, all braking events are recorded and aggregated in the telematics system. The aggregated data is then transmitted to a central system, which enables statistical analyses, reports and alarms. This enables needs-based brake checks and maintenance during the year. And it pays off: in addition to the clear increase in safety, the use of EBPMS in the UK, for example, can save several workshop visits per year. Even if EBPMS is not yet mandatory in the EU, it provides safety and reduces the risk of serious accidents.
Messages in the maintenance calendar
In fact, the EBPMS function and the cargofleet 3 maintenance calendar can be ideally combined. In the maintenance calendar, vehicles or vehicle groups can be assigned to specific EBPMS maintenance schedules. EBPMS reports are generated and documented according to these plans. If inadequate brake performance is identified, a corresponding maintenance event appears in the calendar, which can then be used to schedule an appointment at the workshop. In each case, the inspection is documented in the vehicle’s maintenance history and the inspection interval starts again.
